A seed does not become a plant the day it is placed in soil. Before growth appears above the ground, the seed must be planted, watered and given time to form roots. Psychological change can be similar.
An old belief may feel automatic because it has been repeated or reinforced by past experiences. Change begins by noticing and examining that belief—not by judging yourself for having it.
From an old belief to new growth
| PREPARE THE SOIL | Gently dismantle the old belief. Notice where it may have come from, how it affects you and whether it is still accurate or helpful. |
| PLANT THE SEED Days 1–21 | Choose one healthier, believable belief. Connect it to one small action you can practise. |
| WATER & GERMINATE Days 22–42 | Repeat the new belief and aligned action when the old pattern appears. Roots may be forming even before change is visible. |
| TAKE ROOT & GROW Days 43–63 | Keep practising. Look for small signs that the healthier response is becoming easier and more available. |
| KEEP TENDING | Continue supporting the new pattern, especially during stress. Returning after a setback is part of growth. |
Think of these as guideposts—not a promise that every belief or habit will change on an exact day.
What waters a new belief
Repetition • real evidence • small aligned actions • supportive relationships • returning after setbacks
Repeating words alone is not enough. A new belief grows stronger when your thoughts, actions and experiences begin supporting it.
Not seeing growth immediately does not mean nothing is happening.
Roots often form before the plant appears.

My New Growth Worksheet
Choose one belief or response to begin changing
1. The old belief or pattern I am ready to examine is:
________________________________________________________________________________________
2. What experiences, fears or messages have helped keep it rooted?
________________________________________________________________________________________
3. The healthier, believable belief I want to plant is:
________________________________________________________________________________________
4. One small action that will water and support this new belief is:
________________________________________________________________________________________
5. When the old belief appears, I will pause and:
________________________________________________________________________________________
6. One early sign of growth I will look for is:
________________________________________________________________________________________
My simple growth plan
| When I notice ______________________, I will remind myself ______________________________ and take this small action: _______________________________________. |
Water the seed for the next seven days
| DAY 1 | DAY 2 | DAY 3 | DAY 4 | DAY 5 | DAY 6 | DAY 7 |
| ☐ | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ | ☐ |
Remember: Missing a day does not destroy the seed. Notice, adjust and begin watering it again.
Would support help this growth?
Some beliefs are deeply connected to trauma, anxiety, rejection, relationships or long-standing emotional pain. You do not have to dismantle them alone.
